The Dialogue Society’s Sutton branch held an inspiring Life of a Chickpea workshop at Brookfield Primary Academy with Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. The session used the humble chickpea as a creative, entry point to explore culture, community, and identity. Guest speakers from the Hindu and Muslim communities, as well as a representative from Community Action, shared personal stories and insights, enriching the dialogue around shared values and diverse traditions.
The workshop provided a unique space for pupils to engage with themes of belonging and diversity. Through engaging presentations and open dialogue, students explored how individual experiences and cultural practices contribute to a richer, more inclusive society.
